Tex Perkins , Don Walker & Charlie Owen
ONE MORE ROUND FOR TEX, DON AND CHARLIE!
Imagine being a member of an audience witnessing a stage full of Australian legends…Imagine Tex Perkins (of Beasts Of Bourbon and Cruel Sea fame), Don Walker (writer/producer of all the Cold Chisel classics including Flame Trees, Cheap Wine, Khe Sanh and Choir Girl), Charlie Owen (Beast Of Bourbon / Surrealists axe-master), Mick Harvey (Nick Cave’s right hand man / Bad Seed co-founder and guitarist) and well known Melbourne musician Shane Walsh all joining forces for the greatest collaboration this country has ever seen!
Well every now and again the planets align, and you don’t have to imagine, because for a couple nights only, Tex, Don and Charlie - with Mick Harvey on drums and Shane Walsh on double bass are back by popular demand!
The legend doesn’t end here. Warming up the stage once again, as no one else could, will be Kim (Scientist, Surrealist, Beast of Bourbon) Salmon and Ron (Died Pretty) Peno’s irrepressible, irresistible and downright majestic, Darling Downs.

“It was hard not to be blown away by the array of talent on stage at one given time. This was gold! And finally with just the most blistering guitar parts provided by the ultra cool Charlie Owen, which moved from country licks to real rock ‘n’ roll, sweat blood and tears stuff – the Owen solo’s were simply awesome and took the performances to higher levels – if there was such a thing that is! Tex, Don And Charlie are back, big time and everybody’s along for the ride!” FASTER LOUDER
“Particularly noteworthy were the brooding ballads from Walker, his deep, smooth vocals were flawless. With Tex it’s the well-stages prowl, the cajoling and banters between band-mates, the defined playing and, of course, the rasping and crooning through gloriously ragged tunes.” INPRESS
“Owen, for me, played a major part in the musical year. The Tex, Don and Charlie album All Is Forgiven was an absolute beauty, as was a show I saw at the Athenaeum, with one-time Cold Chisel songwriter Don Walker solid and resolute behind his linen-draped electric piano, the inimitable Tex Perkins drunk and ragged up front, a stray Bad Seed on drums and that man Charlie Owen, always in the shadows but always, too, in the heavens, coaxing the most gorgeous, soulful and beautiful signals from his (almost) ill-fated guitars. Here is a man who can make sad songs say so very, very much. He can play next to nothing and make it seem like the final countdown.” THE AGE
“Next up were the irrepressible Darling Downs dynamic duo of the legendary Kim Salmon (The Scientists, Beasts Of Bourbon, The Surrealists etc, etc) on acoustic guitar and the savage Appalachian hollering of one Ron Peno (former Died Pretty vocalist) – who quickly took command and instantly numbed the room with their heartbreaking tales of love, loss and redemption.. The vocal notes that Ron Peno consistently hits are mind bogglingly unbelievable and The Darling Downs are always a treat to observe and review. They take my breath away, and I’m not afraid to say that I love these men, and the emotive music that they produce.”FASTER LOUDER
