The Comedy Lair returns Wed 2 July with Corinne Grant and Adam Richard

Filed under: Comedy — site admin @ 10:37 am

After a break of almost two and half years (where does the time go?!) The Comedy Lair returns!

The Lair now has a new home, upstairs at Hardiman’s Hotel in Kensington, where it will run as a monthly room, on the first Wednesday of each month, starting July. To mark the occasion we have a big opening night show lined up featuring Corinne Grant, Adam Richard, Elbowskin, Geraldine Hickey and Joanne Brookfield.

Opening Night acts:

Household name Corinne Grant has been beaming into loungerooms for years now doing the funny on TV shows such as The GlassHouse and Rove Live; she’s hosted TV shows, been a contestant or guest on TV shows and been interviewed on TV shows. She’s been a regular on radio, written books and she’s criss-crossed the country performing live, and she’s making her debut performance in The Lair as the very special opening night headline act on Wed 2 July.

Joining her will be The Fabulous Adam Richard. Heard on Fox FM’s top rating breakfast show every morning, Adam has also done his fair share of TV work and can been seen as a regular segment presenter on Network Ten’s 9am With David and Kim. With a delightfully bitchy wit that stings like citric acid in a paper cut he’ll keep the quips coming as opening night MC.

Also performing:

- musical comedy duo Elbowskin, who are rocketing up the ranks and building a strong following for themselves with their cheekiness and charm.

- Stand up comedian Geraldine Hickey, whose last comedy festival show was one of only a handful to be promoted in a full page ad in the EG taken out by another comedian promoting ‘picks of the festival’. Praise doesn’t come much higher than that!

- and Joanne Brookfield, who after doing a mini-tour of NZ took a little break from stand up that, whoops, became a year and a bit, is now returning to live work and re-opening The Lair as part of that…

Lair background:

The Lair began life as a weekly comedy room at the old Prince Patrick Hotel in Collingwood, back in 2002. Since then it has run as either a weekly room, or as one-off themed events, in venues in Clifton Hill, Fitzroy and Melbourne CBD. The Lair has always presented the biggest names and brightest rising stars, guaranteeing The Lair’s loyal audiences nothing but quality comedy. Acts such as Ross Noble, The Umbilical Brothers, Jimeoin, Dave Hughes, Jo Stanley, Peter Helliar, Rachel Berger, Frank Wood have all performed previously at The Lair and many of the brightest rising stars booked proved they were just that – now having moved into bigger and better things in TV, radio and live work. The monthly Lair at Hardiman’s in Kensington will be no different: nothing but the best.
