THE RE-MAINS with Mike Noga & The Gentlemen of Fortune and special guest

Thu 20 Dec 2007

Doors 8.30

The Re-Mains last album, ‘Love’s Last Stand’ received universal acclaim and blues legend Chris Wilson declared it “the best live album produced in Australia - ever.” The band’s reputation has only been enhanced by cracking shows! After a slight hiccup involving their van colliding with a cow, The Re-mains recording for their new album due in 2008 has been postponed till the guys are back on their feet, but meanwhile, with a new van, the full band returns to the East. First single ‘Othello’s P-76’ is a taste of the battered but unbowed The Re-mains, post-prang.

HITMEN (NSW) with The Shimmys and The Lazys

Fri 28 Dec 2007

Doors 8.30

Derivative, but undeniably spirited, the Hitmen left a lasting mark. Formed in the late 70s with roots in the groundbreaking Radio Birdman, the Hitmen clearly influenced dozens of bands that followed in their wake, peddling a mix of metallic pop, Detroit rock, re-vamped ‘60s standards, and a wide range of originals. There have been threatened Hitmen reformations, all to no avail – until now! Call it what you like, there’s no doubt that history, good fortune and destiny have conspired to deliver the cleanest, most pre-determined Hitmen line-up since 1981, drawing together five men who have truly earned their rock ‘n’ roll commissions. Johnny Kannis, Chris Masuak and Tony Robertson all return, now joined by Tony Jukic (Johnny Kannis Explosion) and Murray Shepherd (Screaming Tribesmen and brother of original member Brad). This is truly the next generation of Hitmen!

CARIBOU (CANADA) with special guests – HALF PRICE EARLY BIRD TICKET - SEE BELOW FOR FULL DETAILS

Sat 19 Jan 2008

Doors 8.30

Caribou has toured Australia three times before; as a solo act in 2001 and as a three piece in 2003 & 2005. This time, however, Caribou, aka Dan Snaith, will be touring as a four piece, allowing him/them the luxury of fleshing out the full band sounds as heard on his latest (and greatest) album ‘Andorra’, live. Recorded almost entirely by himself, ‘Andorra’ features some 670 tracks all pieced together in Caribou’s basement studio. The end result is an electro-psychedelic masterpiece that draws on influences as disparate as The Zombies and Four-Tet, and sounds both real and conjured, yet organic and natural. Fans of Caribou are in for an extra treat too, with announcement of a half price early bird ticket being made available for anyone purchasing a ticket to see Caribou’s sometime touring buddies, Low. The offer will stand for a limited time from Fri 16 November before reverting to a full price ticket, and is exclusive to tickets purchased from The East.
