THE FITZ Best Short Film Awards for 2007
Fitzroy Shorts presents THE FITZ Best Short Film Awards for 2007. A culmination of years worth of screenings from the Fitzroy Shorts screening calendar. The final screening of the ten best short films is to be held at the Australian Centre for Moving image (ACMI), with two awards being handed out, The Grand Jury Prize along with a Jury Special Mention Award.
Featuring award winning short film CROSSBOW, directed by David Michod, CROSSBOW gives us a sneak peak over the fence of a neighbour where there is loud sex, drugs and somewhere amongst it all, a boy sits silent and is lost in the house, reaching out for warmth and love and as the story unravels one neighbour bears witness to everything, featuring Joel Edgerton (Ned Kelly). Winner of the Film Victoria Erwin Rado Award for Best Australian Short Film, MIFF 2007. Also screening is multi award winning Singapore feature director, Royston Tan, whose latest short film D.I.Y will prove to be an audience favourite. In collaboration with Club21 of Singapore, it was shot in October 2006 and features several big names including Allan Wu, Lum May Yee, Samantha Tan & Dj Koflow.
Jury members for the 2007 awards include Ralph McClean (Yarts TV Program - Channel 31), Fiona Gruber ( Radio Show host 3PBS – Sunday night “The Opening”), Richard Sowada (Head of Programs – ACMI) and comedian ans superstar dancer Corrine Grant.
