The Music Room – Local Music Goes National
Adelaide musicians are set to put South Australia on the map with the production of an ambitious eight part television series of original Australian music.
The first-time series, entitled The Music Room, will be staged and produced in Adelaide, and feature performances from new, emerging South-Australian based musicians as well as established, well known local artists.
The pilot for the series will be filmed before a live audience in Adelaide next month with the support of ArtsSA, Kojo Productions, Sodypop Studios and Onya Soapbox.
Episode 1 is expected to be broadcast on ABC2 next year and may also be streamed internationally via ABC new media outlets, Dig TV and Dig Radio in 2007.
Recording of part one of the series will take place during a two hour cabaret-style concert before a live audience at one of the Adelaide’s most popular performance venues, Higher Ground.
The first show will include original acoustic and electric performances and feature some of Adelaide’s best new talent such as Emily Davis and Illicit Eve alongside some of Adelaide’s seasoned pros The Love Mussels and Don Morrison.
Each episode will be post-produced into a 55-minute edited program and the series will produce a live CD and feature-length DVD of each episode.
