The Hired Guns have a new album in the can & due for release soon - only their second in over 14 years. With hundreds of songs to choose from for a band with 5 singers they cover a lot of ground and their current live sets
are rocking harder and psyching out the country harmonies.
A basement full of tapes … A songwriting circle of people who love to write as much as perform … The Hired Guns formed in 1996, comprising folks from melbournes melting pot of hacks, gig sluts, music-mafia and vinyl sniffing rock-obsessives,
indulging their mutual love of late 60s/early 70s country rock.
The band has evolved through the years as members take influences from their other projects and pursuits - currently : RSVP, Black Cab, Kelly Stoltz band, Stutz, Ross McLennan band etc etc
They play The Tote again with the help of the astonishing James McCann and the Dirty Skirts, whose show will be the bands first show with Simon Edwards on drums , and one of their last shows before a 2 month tour of France and
Spain. (Look out for a special limited edition 12″ 5 track LP on French label Beast Records set to be released soon in celebration of the
bands tour) and the amazing Bulls featuring the heart of the Dacios in a country outfit. $8. doors at 7pm.

Mondo Generator Party Launch - The Tote Sunday 5th September 5pm
A bunch of Melbourne’s stoner rock bands have joined forces to give birth to Mondo Generator Party, a bimonthly spontaneous festival, which will descend upon unsuspecting suburban parks and carparks, abandoned warehouses and factories, beaches and other inappropriate places. In order to make these guerilla style festivals happen, they need a generator and generators cost money. The Tote is kindly hosting the launch party and generator fundraiser on Sunday 5th September, featuring Wicked City, My Left Boot, Molten Duke Ranch (after a three year hiatus), The New Quiet and Creatures of Silence. First band will start at 5pm sharp. $10 entry. Future festivals will only be advertised the day beforehand via txt and email, so make sure you’re at the launch to secure your spot on the mailing list. 5pm
