Verrierdale Full Moon Dance

Filed under: latin music, Fundraising, acoustic music, world music, rock music, Gigs — site admin @ 9:44 am

The next Verrierdale Full Moon Dance on Saturday 22 September is set to shake the old hall out its winter slumber. If you like dancing to great live music, having a few laughs, a drink or two and meeting new people, don’t miss this one.

La Contimba are the masters of latin world beat music, deeply entrenched in Afro-latin and Caribbean rhythms, they have their own take on tunes by the giants of latin
jazz as well as self penned compositions. Guided by percussionist and vocalist Jalberto Maldonado, La Contimba also features the amazing Ric Halstead on sax.

The night will open with the guitar artistry of Monkeybong. Armed with only acoustic guitars and great voices, these young guys from Brisbane are set to do big things. Also from Brisbane, The Racketeers will be pumping meaty, beaty, big and bouncy 60’s freakbeat sounds of bands like the Yardbirds, the Who, and the Kinks from the Swinging London era. Verrierdale regulars, Psychedelia, will also be taking to the stage with lots of big beat pop rock songs.

The Verrierdale Full Moon Dances are fund raisers put on by the Verrierdale Community Association to raise money for upkeep of the hall and public liability insurance. The dances are fully licensed so no BYO and unfortunately no under 18s.

No pokies, no foxtel, just 4 great bands in old timber hall – sounds like a party!

Doors open 7.30pm. Tickets $15 / $12 concession at the door.
Verrierdale Hall, Verrierdale Road, Verrierdale.
