Verrierdale Full Moon Dance

Filed under: rock music, folk music — site admin @ 7:14 am

It a fantastic line up for the next Full Moon Dance at Verrierdale on Saturday 16 February including Showpony, Hat Fitz and Itchy, Psychedelia and the William Moon Book Society. Many performers and moon dance regulars say these dances are the best gig on the coast. The atmosphere in the old hall is just like a big party.

Showpony is one of the hottest home grown bands in the country. With their fresh, innovative and addictive power rock they enchant audiences wherever they play. They combine a rare creative connection with truly amazing technical ability and theatrical performances, so be prepared for an exciting, memorable experience of powerful rock entertainment.

Anyone who has seen Hat Fitz perform at one of his many festival appearances across Australia knows how the big man can stir up an audience. With his wild frantic interpretations of early delta blues classics and self penned songs in tandem with drumming side kick Itchy, he has built a reputation as a hard edged raw blues man. On stage Itchy and Fitzy have an amazing telepathic communication that keeps the music tight while reaching seemingly out of control crescendos.

And for those who just want to party, Verrierdale regulars, Psychedelia will be playing some of the best dance music from the 60’s and 70’s, from bands like Led Zeppelin, The Who, Rolling Stones, Hendrix and the Easybeats.

Opening the night will be the William Moon Book Society whose music combines delicate storytelling with emotion, to take you on a journey through love, loss and all the spaces in between. With gentle, sensitive and honest vocal and guitar arrangements and a dynamic string section, the William Moon Book Society offers a powerful, genuine and whole-hearted approach to their music.

The dances are put on by the Verrierdale Community Association to raise money for upkeep of the hall and public liability insurance. While the organizers have been working hard to keep this wonderful community event affordable for all, unfortunately escalating costs have forced an increase in the cover charge to $20 per person / $15 concession, which is still amazing value for 4 great bands and the fantastic Verrierdale atmosphere.

The dances are fully licensed so no BYO and unfortunately no under 18s. There is a sausage sizzle too.

Don’t miss this one!

Doors open 7.30pm. Tickets $20 /$15 / concession at the door.
Verrierdale Hall, Verrierdale Road, Verrierdale.
