MATT JOE GOW AND THE DEAD LEAVES.

The Dead Leaves music is well crafted, expressive and ragged. There are mistakes, they speed up, they slow down. But all the while the experience is very real and unapologetic and serves to draw in the audience. Country music to sing along to, with a tinge of bittersweet.

THURSDAY 6 DEC.
LIZ MARTIN “NIGHT MUSIC” EP LAUNCH.
with guests BLACK SWANS OF TRESPASS + ROSE TURTLE ERTLER
8.30PM. $10
Celebrate the launch of Liz Martin’s new EP “Night Music.” Featuring Liz Martin on vocals and guitar and Michael Bridges on violin and musical saw, they create a spacious, haunting quality of sound in the tradition of fellow Australians The Dirty Three, Nick Cave and The Triffids. “Night Music” consists of 3 brand new songs and two re-interpretations of songs from her previous album, Beneath The Stars.

SATURDAY 8 DEC.
THE RECTIFIERS + HAZEL BROWN.
8.30PM. $7/$5
The Rectifiers are back. After spending perhaps too long in their
submarine-like studio (pictured) working on their forthcoming long playing
album ‘Playtime for John Mountain’ The Rectifiers are set to play a special
evening at the Wesley Anne on the 8th of December. Hear songs about a man
with a beard of bees played in a folk style with two samplers. It almost
sounds too good to be true. Add a special guest appearance from the
wonderful Hazel Brown and a magical evening will surely follow.
