When too much film is just not enough!
Melbourne is a buzz with film and as the slogan goes, “when too much film is just not enough!” This month Fitzroy hosts it’s own monthly little film festival at the Panama Club on Smith Street.
It features the award winning short, Jonathon Livingstone CEO, which took out The Comedy Channel Short Film Festival - Best Film 2007. Directed by James Teh and produced by Joe Villanti of Angy Pinata Productions, Jonathon Livingstone CEO is an allegorical tale of corporate greed that’s for the birds. Also featuring is Dream of Conception, Directed by Jong Suk (Joy) Park. It’s a story of lady who walks alone on a foggy beach in the early morning. A turtle appears from the sea. She takes possession of the turtle until her younger sister takes it away from her. Screening at the Brisbane International Film Festival (BIFF 2007).
Emit is an animation, written/directed by Fergus Donald and produced by Donna Sennett. The story is of a clock brought to life by the Voyager space probe’s final plummet to the surface of a post-apocalyptic, rubbish-covered planet not dissimilar to our own. Emit stopped at 11:55, as did the rest of the planet. Now he is ticking again, he sets out to find life and discover what makes it tick. But not everything is what is seems…
Prolific team, of Luke Eve (Producer) and Beth (Director), bring us Danya. A story of a troubled eight-year-old girl, whose determination to find out about her late mother leads to a deeper connection with her remote father. Set in autumn in contemporary Sydney, across two neighbouring terrace houses; the story observes how three generations deal with death, as told from a child’s perspective. Winner of the Kodak Filmschool Competition, Asia-Pacific region, 2006 Best Cinematography, First Prize for Cinematography (joint winner).
