Yah Yah’s Gig Guide
Thursday 5 August
ROCK AEROBICS
Rock Aerobics is a dance fitness class for lovers of all things rock that sets rock-inspired dance moves to a soundtrack ranging from Blondie and Bowie to AC/DC and Alice Cooper. At Rock Aerobics you’ll pogo, skank, shimmy and strut to a monthly rotation of rock anthems. All you need to bring is a pair of sneakers, a towel, $10 and your best rock face (and some spare change for a beer!). Class starts at 7pm. For more info see www.rockaerobics.com.au

DRUNK MUMS
PORCUS VS EQUUS
THE EYEBALL KICKS
Next Thursday, Yah Yah’s will play host to a fantastic night of bluesy and gutsy disco rock. Headlining the night are Drunk Mums. Formed in Cairns five years ago their blood and guts style is entangled with catchy hooks and filled with juicy tales of bank robbery, lives of young ruffians and finding the beauty in benders. Porcus vs Equus are confusingly highbrow yet idiotic dropping prog-rock into a very dirty gutter. Stumbling clumsily over often complicated guitar arrangements, they deliver a unique air-punching opportunity to the rhythmic savant. The Eyeball Kicks draw inspiration from the White Stripes but you can expect everything from simple power chord rock to funked up salsa blast beats. Catch Drunk Mums, Porcus vs Equus and The Eyeball Kicks at Yah Yah’s next Thursday.

FORREST OF GNOMES (Adel)
Next Saturday at Yah Yah’s will see Sons of Lee Marvin roll back into loud mode, alongside Don Fernando, My Left Boot and Forrest of Gnomes (Adelaide). The last time Sons of Lee Marvin graced the Yah Yah’s stage with a full band was to launch the last album ‘The Death of Romance’ back in ‘08. The beer ran out, the staff got blisters on their feet and the punters got well loose! Now, showcasing a swag of new material, Sons of Lee Marvin are delighted to be back with three fine bands.

ENOLA FALL (Tas)
MERCURY WHITE
THE TWOKS
Enola Fall is a four-piece from Hobart, Tasmania, renowned for their intense and captivating live shows. Musically they sit somewhere between the cabaret crescendo of Arcade Fire and the windswept melancholy of Tom Waits, with singer Joe Nuttall’s voice running the gauntlet from whisper to sea-lion roar. Coming into existence in the burgeoning Hobart scene circa 2003, Enola Fall have performed at both the Tasmanian and Victorian Falls Festivals and have been selected as a triple j ‘Next Crop’ artist. The release of their debut album ‘We Never Sleep’, led the band to support England’s Turin Brakes on their German tour, as well as several shows around the UK. Since then, Enola Fall has supported Amanda Palmer, The Panics, Architecture In Helsinki, Cloud Control, The Jezabels, The Violent Femmes, Eskimo Joe and Something For Kate. Catch Enola Fall, recently voted ‘Best Tasmanian Band’ at the State’s Amplified Award sat Yah Yah’s next Sunday with Mercury White and The Twoks.
